The Nansemond River High School softball team picked up a 12-1 home win over Lakeland High School Wednesday evening.

Originally scheduled for Tuesday evening, the game was moved to Wednesday due to rain. Nansemond River has started its quest for the 2019 city title by winning its first game over a rival this season.

Taylor Cherry and Er’ron Burton combined for 13 strikeouts for the Lady Warriors in the victory.
