Man indicted on second degree murder, attempted murder charges

A 23-year-old man was indicted on charges including second degree murder and related charges in indictments handed down Sept. 26 by the Suffolk Circuit Court Grand Jury.

The Commonwealth’s Attorney secured 10 indictments against Phillip Jovan Etheridge, 23 of Suffolk, in connection with the March 27 shooting in North Suffolk that killed one person and injured another.

Etheridge was indicted on charges of second degree murder, attempted murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, two counts of malicious wounding, two counts of malicious shooting or throwing missiles, shooting a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school, and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder.

Another person charged in the shooting, Jonathan Luis Jackson, 23 of Suffolk, saw his charges in this case certified to the grand jury during an August hearing in Suffolk General District Court.

The charges and indictments stem from a March 27 shooting that killed Tameisha Goode Rogers, 40, of Chesapeake and injured another man, Reginald Ashmead Thorne III, 36, of Suffolk.

Etheridge’s indictments are among the 79 indictments involving 34 defendants handed down by the Suffolk grand jury.

The other indictments include:

Shawn Michael Babonis — failure to return bailed property

Linwood Baker — permanent maiming of another, possession of a schedule I/II drug and direct indictment for a misdemeanor for failure to maintain proper control/improper brakes

Rashidah Sheree Barrett — buying or giving a gun to ineligible person, conspiring to give a gun to an ineligible person and making false statements on a firearm consent form

Lillian Beasley — statutory burglary

Darren Earl Bentley — wounding/injury by strangulation

Ashleigh Storm Blankenship — wounding/injury by strangulation

Deshaun Cooley — possession with intent to distribute more than one ounce of marijuana

Leonard Ayres Core — making false statements on a firearm consent form

Derrick Allen Deschamps — possession of a gun with schedule I/II drugs and possession of I/II drugs

Enrique Ramon Devasquez — three counts of assault on law enforcement, obstructing/resisting arrest by force, and three counts of assault with malice to law enforcement

Camron Elijah Fenneman — credit card larceny, four counts of credit card forgery and conspiring to incite a riot

Tony Garza — direct indictments on involuntary manslaughter, two counts of driving while intoxicated and two misdemeanors

Willie Keshawn Green — possession of a gun by a non-violent felon

Dashay Tyrek Harper — possession with intent to distribute more than one ounce of marijuana

Emonjhe Zjhuan Hinton-Rodgers — destruction of property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle

Demonte Lee Ingram — possession of a weapon by a violent felon.

Tyrone Devell Jenkins —  violent felon possession/transporting weapon

Thomas Blake Korzeniowski — eluding police officers-endangerment

Paxton Kirby Linton — making false statements on a firearm consent form

Amia Marie Lockhart — direct indictment for making false statements on a firearm consent form

Barthonia Lee Miller Jr. — embezzlement

Austin Lee Randall — violating a protective order

Aaron Quantez Riddick — possession with intent to distribute more than one ounce of marijuana and possession of a firearm with intent to distribute

Cameron Sears — a misdemeanor count of use of profane language over a public airway

Teddy Rayshond Skinner — threat to extort money and abduction to extort money or for immoral purpose

Justin Wade Smith — malicious wounding

Leeche Marquita Smith — malicious wounding

Ryan Seaton Swain — grand larceny of an automobile

Cardiss Antwan Taylor — unauthorized use of a motor vehicle

Tae’vion Orlando Thompson — possession of a gun by a nonviolent felon

Christopher Brandon Vaughan — three counts of possession of a schedule I/II drug with intent to distribute and possession of a gun on a person with intent to distribute.

Myron Lennard Woods Jr. — receiving/buying stolen goods and possession of a vehicle with removed/altered ID/decal

Kevin Adrian Wright —  possession with intent to distribute/manufacture schedule I drug, possession with intent to distribute more than 1/2 ounce of marijuana and manufacture/distribution of a schedule I drug

Warren Tyran Wyche — three counts of grand larceny and three counts of embezzlement
