Lakeland High School’s field hockey team continued to gain momentum this season with a 3-0 victory over visiting Denbigh High School on Tuesday evening.

“I thought they played well,” coach Cortney Parker said of her Lady Cavaliers. “The only complaint I have is we didn’t finish as much as I would have liked to.”

Lakeland had plenty of scoring opportunities, with 14 penalty corners, while it limited the Lady Patriots to one.

Junior Stasha Waterfield contributed a goal and an assist, junior Taylor Roten scored once and sophomore Kaylene Thomas did as well. Sophomore Kendall Lewis contributed two assists.

The Lady Cavaliers’ lone senior, goalkeeper Erin Bradshaw, was honored as part of Senior Night, and also turned in a performance worthy of honor.

“She recorded a shutout,” Parker said. “She had a great game.”

Lakeland (6-8, 2-2) visits Phoebus High School on Tuesday.
