Job Corps session planned

The Suffolk Workforce Development Center, located on the second floor at 157 N. Main St., will hold a Job Corps Information Session at 9 a.m. Nov. 17.

Suffolk and Franklin residents, ages 16 to 24, are welcome to attend this free session, which will cover a variety of professions, including health careers automotive technology, culinary arts, electrician, landscaping, office administration, painting, plumbing, welding, security and more.

The program is the first step in the admissions process for those interested in the Job Corps program.

Males attending the session should wear button or polo shirts, slacks, belts and shoes. Females should wear dresses, skirts or slacks and blouse, and shoes. Jeans, sneakers or shorts should not be worn.

Job Corps is the nation’s largest career technical training and education programs for students ages 16 to 24. Administered by the U.S. Department of Labor, Job Corps provides low-income men and women with an opportunity to gain the experience they need to begin a career or advance to higher education at no cost to the student.
