Nansemond River’s season ended in a dramatic way Tuesday when the Warriors dropped a Conference 10 tournament game in which they were up by as much as 17 points earlier in the game. They finished the regular season placed fifth in the Conference 10 standings and were able to get three players recognized.
Junior Josh Hale made his way on the Conference 10 second team and was the only representative for the Warriors on both teams. The junior had a solid season for the Warriors at the point guard position.
“The honor feels great,” Hale said. “I want to thank God first and foremost and my coaches and teammates for their support. Without them, this would be impossible. This was a very tough conference filled with talented players, and I’m honored to be thought of with those guys. I will remain humble and work hard this offseason for a better outcome next year.”
Junior Gerard Stringer and sophomore Jeremiah Lewis were both recognized as Conference 10 honorable mentions. For Lewis, it was his first season on the varsity level.
“I feel honored,” Lewis said. “It also motivates me to strive for the first team next year.”
“Those two are great teammates,” Hale said. “They make me look good on the court. Gerard is a competitor. He hates losing more than anything. Jeremiah is a versatile player that has a great future and can easily win many accomplishments in his future.”
