Suffolk police were involved in a vehicle pursuit Wednesday afternoon when Hampton detectives followed a wanted subject into the city.

The Hampton detectives requested assistance about 12:41 p.m., city spokeswoman Diana Klink said in a press release. Officers in the vicinity found the vehicle, a red Nissan Altima, traveling on Bennetts Pasture Road and attempted to stop the vehicle.

The driver continued to flee and eventually stopped in a driveway in the 100 block of Sweetbriar Lane, where the two subjects inside fled on foot. Suffolk police apprehended them a short distance away in the 300 block of Berry Ridge Lane.

The driver had an active warrant from Hampton for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Klink said in the release. The names of the two individuals involved were not being released because the investigation is ongoing and Suffolk’s charges are still pending.

The pursuit lasted about one mile in Suffolk, Klink said. There were no injuries and no property damage, she added.
