NSA football gets big win

The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy football team thundered into the 2015 season with a blowout road victory on Saturday afternoon in Roanoke.

The Saints defeated host North Cross School 54-28, a victory bolstered by an incredible offensive performance from senior running back Noah Giles.

Giles carried the ball 24 times, gaining 278 yards and three touchdowns.

He was the tip of the spear in an NSA rushing attack that accounted for 516 of the Saints’ 576 yards of total offense.

Other key contributors to the massive rushing total were senior running back Graham Moore, with 11 carries for 100 yards, and senior fullback Cole Christiansen with eight carries for 78 yards and a touchdown.

Nansemond-Suffolk held the Raiders to 196 yards of total offense, all of which came through the air.

The Saints’ resurgent defense produced eight sacks, three of which came from senior linebacker Connor King.

NSA (1-0) hosts Bishop Ireton High School on Friday.
