The football teams from Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and Greenbrier Christian Academy produced a score on Friday night that more closely resembled one found on the hardwood than the gridiron, but the visiting Saints were always on the right side of it, winning 66-44.

“They had a pretty incredible evening,” NSA coach Lew Johnston said of the Gators. “We weren’t playing bad defense.”

In fact, Saints senior linebacker Cole Christiansen scored the first points of the game on an 86-yard interception return.

But Greenbrier Christian did generate 397 yards and six touchdowns through the air.

“Fortunately, our offense was able to score at will,” Johnston said.

Nansemond-Suffolk senior running back Noah Giles had 22 carries for 221 yards, five touchdowns and a two-point conversion. Senior running back Graham Moore added eight carries for 94 yards, a score and a two-point conversion and senior wide receiver Noah Serianni had four rushes for 59 yards, a touchdown and a two-point conversion.

The Saints racked up 433 yards rushing while holding the Gators to -27 yards on the ground.
