Lady Saints defeat Bishop Sullivan

The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy girls’ basketball team defeated Bishop Sullivan Thursday night on the road in the Lady Saints’ fifth win in a row.

NSA won 66-49 to take home their fifth win in a row. Kelly Hogan led the way again for the Lady Saints, with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Hogan is currently averaging 14 points for the Lady Saints, which puts her within the top five scorers in TCIS play. Kaylah Brown added 14 points.

Bishop Sullivan got off to a strong start, taking a 17-13 lead after one quarter of play. The Lady Saints fought back with a strong second-quarter effort but at halftime were down 30-28. After halftime, the Lady Saints took the third quarter by storm, pouring in 19 third quarter points and holding Bishop Sullivan to four.

NSA’s defense has played a significant part in building their lead over teams. The Lady Saints recorded 14 steals as a team against Bishop Sullivan. In the fourth quarter, NSA recorded their second straight 19-point quarter, summing up their 66-49 victory.

“I think we have been using the momentum off of each win to help us play hard,” the Lady Saints’ Lindsay Knierbein said. “I hope we can continue to keep the win streak up.”
