Norment wins primary

Incumbent Senator Thomas K. Norment Jr. handily won a Republican primary on Tuesday.

Under the new state redistricting, Norment’s 3rd District now encompasses Driver and Ebenezer precincts.

Only 168 Suffolk voters came out to vote for Norment or for his challenger, Mark Frechette.

Norment took slightly more than 70 percent of the Suffolk vote. Throughout the district, he grabbed 72 percent of the vote.
