No. 1 Old Dominion (12-0, 3-0 Colonial) remained perfect with a 2-0 win at Richmond on Friday and a 5-0 win at Delaware on Sunday.

Freshman midfielder Kelsey Smither (Lakeland) scored her second goal of the season, as well as notching her team-leading ninth assist, as the Lady Monarchs put four goals on the board in the second half against the Lady Blue Hens. Smither’s goal made it 3-0 ODU and was the first of three goals in a 10-minute span. ODU outshot UD 25-3.

Twelve straight victories is ODU’s best start to a field hockey season since 1992. ODU went 25-0 and won the national championship in 1992.

The Lady Monarchs travel for two CAA matches this weekend, at Towson and at Drexel.

Radford senior Lynsey Daughtrey (Lakeland) scored her third goal of the season as the Lady Highlanders won 3-2 at Appalachian State on Friday in a NorPac Conference match.

Daughtrey, who’s a defender for RU, scored with just over 12 minutes to play to give her side a 3-1 lead. The goal was her only shot on goal in the match.

Freshman Jennifer Hedrick (Lakeland) came on as a reserve and had a shot on goal for RU.

Radford’s road trip ended with a 7-0 loss at No. 2 North Carolina on Sunday.

Radford (5-7, 1-2) hosts Limestone on Saturday.

Sophomore Ben Hunter shot rounds of 77 and 75 to finish eight-over par and tied for 11th for the Apprentice School at the Ted Keller Memorial at Glen Allen’s Hunting Hawk Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday. Hunter was the top Builder golfer in the tournament.

The Builders finish their fall golf season at the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) Nationals in State College, Pa. Oct. 9-11.

Hunter is the defending champion at the USCAA Nationals. He shot an even-par 144 and won last year’s tournament, also at Penn State University’s Blue Course in State College, by seven strokes.
