Lakeland linebacker Jerrell Ralph brings down a Grassfield running back in the backfield Friday night at Grassfield. The Grizzlies remained undefeated with a 27-13 win over Lakeland. The Cavaliers (5-2, 4-2) are No. 6 in the new Division 5, Eastern Region Power Ratings.
Gridiron losses for Lakeland and Nansemond River last Friday night hurt the Cavaliers and Warriors in the regional power ratings as three weeks remain in the regular season.
Lakeland, after a 27-13 defeat at undefeated Grassfield, dropped from No. 2 in the regional Division 5 power ratings to No. 6.
Great Bridge, a 29-22 victor over Nansemond River with a late touchdown and two-point conversion to overtake the Warriors, moved from No. 7 to one spot ahead of the Cavaliers. Nansemond River dropped from a tie for eighth, right on the playoff bubble, to No. 11.
Phoebus remains the top-rated squad. The Phantoms are the three-time defending state champion with a 52–game winning streak and ranked No. 2 in the state in the Associated Press Group AAA Poll.
