Cutchins a finalist for JMU honor

Lakeland High School alumnus Lindsay Cutchins is a finalist for 2011-2012 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year at James Madison University.

Lakeland High School alumnus Lindsay Cutchins has been named a finalist for James Madison University’s 2011-2012 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Four finalists were chosen in each of the four categories. Athletes eligible for the awards included those who participate in spring sports and graduated in 2011.

Cutchins is a geographical science major with a minor in family studies. She has a 3.5 GPA.

As a member of the school’s field hockey team, she was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association’s National Academic Squad in 2010 and 2011. She earned the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner’s Academic Award in 2009, 2010 and 2011. She was named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association’s All-State Second Team in 2009.

The winners in each category will be announced on April 23 at JMU’s annual Athletic Recognition Banquet.
