King’s Fork High School had a rough shooting night against visiting Grassfield on Thursday, contributing to the Lady Bulldogs’ first district loss of the season, 51-41.
“Overall, I just think we picked a bad night to play bad,” KF head coach Maurice Fofana said.
The Lady Bulldogs shot 10-of-72 from the field, with 50 of those shots coming from inside the three-point line.
“We only made four two-point baskets,” Fofana said.
The King’s Fork coach gave credit to what the Grizzlies did, as well.
“They kind of dictated the pace that the game was played at,” he said. “We didn’t get out and do what we normally do.”
Grassfield slowed the game down, which rubbed off on King’s Fork.
“We’re a running team, so (instead) we just kind of walked it down,” Fofana said.
Senior shooting guard Shaikeyla Jordan and senior wing Adrieanna McCrary led King’s Fork with 11 points apiece. Junior power forward/center Khadedra Croker had a poor night offensively, putting up only eight points.
King’s Fork (11-2, 8-1) got a chance to bounce back Friday night when it played Deep Creek on the road.
