KFHS loses to Hickory

The Hickory High School girls’ tennis team visited King’s Fork High School for the Lady Bulldogs’ final regular season match on Thursday, defeating their hosts, 8-1.

King’s Fork senior Hazel Fiel had recently faced her first 10-point tie-breaker in a lost match against Indian River High School.

After trading sets with her opponent on Thursday, she faced the same situation, but this time with victorious results, 10-7.

  • Farmer (H) def. Xiao (KF), 6-0, 6-1
  • Fiel (KF) def. Glasgow (H), 6-2, 3-6, 10-7
  • Witynski (H) def. Karapova (KF), 6-1, 6-0
  • Snider (H) def. Thomas (KF), 6-0, 6-1
  • Brinn (H) def. Owens (KF), 6-4, 6-0
  • Fitzpatrick (H) def. Bangley (KF), 6-0, 6-0

Following are the doubles results:

  • Farmer and Wityniski (H) def. Fiel and Thomas (KF), 8-0
  • Snider and Brinn (H) def. Owens and Bangley (KF), 8-4
  • Glasgow and Fitzpatrick (H) def. Fonoimoana and Preneta (KF), 8-1

King’s Fork (1-9, 1-8) will begin play in the Southeastern District tournament on Monday.
