Ten displaced in apartment fire

Ten people, including two children, were displaced from their apartments after a fire on Saturday afternoon.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to the fire in the 600 block of Hillpoint Boulevard at the Hillpoint Woods Apartment complex. The blaze was reported at 4:50 p.m., and firefighters arrived four minutes later.

The fire was contained to one second-floor apartment and the attic area, but four units were damaged. Firefighters rescued a dog from the apartment, and no injuries were reported. The fire was called under control at 5:31 p.m.

The complex’s property management is assisting the displaced people.

The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause.
