Girls’ basketball jamboree set

Nansemond River High School’s girls’ basketball team will host the first Lady Warriors Jamboree this Saturday starting at 1 p.m.

Varsity teams from six different schools will compete in nine 16-minute games to help prepare for the upcoming season.

The schools will include last year’s Group AA-Division III state runner-up, Brunswick High School, featuring eight returning players, four of them starters. King’s Fork High School and Landstown High School, two 2012-13 Group AAA regional playoff teams, will compete along with Norview High School, Tallwood High School and the Lady Warriors.

The admission fee for adult spectators is $6 and for students 10 and under, it is $3.

Following is the schedule of the event:

1st Session

  • 1 p.m. – King’s Fork vs. Tallwood
  • 1:30- Brunswick vs. Landstown
  • 2 – Nansemond River vs. Norview

2nd Session

  • 2:30 – Brunswick vs. Tallwood
  • 3 – King’s Fork vs. Norview
  • 3:30 – Nansemond River vs. Landstown

3rd Session

  • 4 – Tallwood vs. Norview
  • 4:30 – Brunswick vs. Nansemond River
  • 5 – Landstown vs. King’s Fork
