Two adults were displaced by a fire in the 900 block of East Washington Street in downtown Suffolk on Monday evening.
A male resident was taken by ambulance to Sentara Obici Hospital with injuries that were considered non-life threatening, according to Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink. No firefighters were injured in the fire, she said in a press release.
The fire began in a second-floor apartment of the two-story wood-frame structure, which had been converted into two apartments, Klink stated in the release. The first-floor apartment was vacant at the time of the fire, which was reported at 7:04 p.m.
The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
