John Yeates Middle School was not evacuated after a bomb threat Wednesday because the threat was not considered credible, according to school district spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw.

A student reported the threat written on a restroom wall to a teacher at about 10:45 a.m., Bradshaw stated in an email.

Police and fire investigators attended the school to assist in the investigation, Bradshaw stated, and the matter remained under investigation.

“As the message was not considered credible, the fire inspector and school administrators proceeded with the investigation without an evacuation,” Bradshaw stated.

Previous bomb threats at John Yeates and other city public schools recently have led to evacuations.
