Player of the Week nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:
- Macy Mears, senior for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy softball: She hit the cycle on Tuesday, her birthday, producing four runs batted in and two stolen bases to help her team to a 15-0 mercy rule-shortened home win over Norfolk Academy.
- Emily Leverone, senior for Nansemond River High School soccer: During a grueling week with three games on consecutive days, she helped her team go 2-1 by scoring five goals and providing one assist. She scored twice in each of the victories and scored her team’s lone goal in the loss.
- Logan Montel, sophomore for King’s Fork High School soccer: She helped her team dominate visiting Lake Taylor High School on Thursday, scoring four goals and adding one assist in the Lady Bulldogs’ 8-0 mercy rule-shortened victory.
