Mayor Linda T. Johnson announced on Tuesday the Tidewater Builders Association’s Homearama event will come to Suffolk for the fourth time this fall.
The event, a showcase of builders’ talents and the newest trends in residential architecture, technology and interior design, will be held at The Waterfront at Parkside neighborhood this fall. The neighborhood, a Sasser Construction community, is near Bennett’s Creek Park.
“We’re thrilled to return to this lively and dynamic market in Suffolk,” Sam Cohen, past Tidewater Builders Association president and Homearama chairman, was quoted as saying in a press release. “We were last here in 2011 at Riverfront at Harbour View, and the Route 17 corridor continues to be an active resale as well as new home sales market.”
TowneBank is a presenting sponsor this year. Eight builders are expected to participate, with home prices starting in the mid $400,000s. The median income of the neighborhood is already one of the highest in the region, according to the press release. It features a clubhouse and fitness center with an outdoor pool and grilling stations and a five-acre park.
Sentara also is participating this year and will focus on health and wellness for men and women. In 2011 and 2012, Sentara sponsored the “Get Pink With Sentara House,” highlighting breast cancer awareness.
The show format will change slightly this year to better accommodate Homearama visitors and their interests, Cohen said. Homearama will be open for three consecutive four-day weekends, each with a different theme.
