All-Suffolk finals abound

Nansemond River High School and King’s Fork High School will fight for the title of Ironclad Conference tournament champion on four different playing fields today.

In addition to the Wednesday and Thursday semifinal wins in softball and baseball, the schools were victorious in the semifinals for both the boys’ soccer and girls’ soccer conference tourneys on Thursday.

The No. 1 Warriors defeated No. 4 Phoebus High School 3-0, and the No. 3 Bulldogs topped No. 2 Denbigh High School 3-1. The No. 1 Lady Warriors edged No. 4 Phoebus 1-0, and the No. 2 Lady Bulldogs routed No. 3 Lakeland High School 9-0.

The soccer championships will both take place at Christopher Newport University on Friday. The girls’ game will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the boys’ game at 7:15 p.m.
