King’s Fork High School experienced unparalleled success with some of its athletic programs during the 2013-14 season, and now it is looking to fuel another successful year.
The school will hold the sixth annual Bulldog Celebrity Golf Classic at Nansemond River Golf Club on June 27 to benefit its athletic programs.
The celebrities participating this year include Cornell Gordon, a former NFL player who was on the New York Jets team that won Super Bowl III.
Former Major League Baseball players Jim Coates and Jim Anderson will be on hand, as will former King’s Fork golfer and current PGA professional Austin Saylor and WGH-FM “The Eagle” radio announcer Jimmy Ray Dunn.
“If you want to have a day in the sun with some golf and meet some of the coaches and staff from King’s Fork, as well as enjoy fellowship with other golfers in the area, this is the place to be, and we have a great lunch,” KF golf coach Calvin Mitchell said.
Though early registration is desired, registration will be open until the day of the tournament. The charge to participate will cover the greens fee, cart, range balls and meal, provided by Roy’s & Ricky’s Catering.
Three players pairing with a celebrity must pay $225. The cost is $300 for a foursome and $75 for an individual player.
As many as 15 teams have signed up, but Mitchell assured he is looking for more, as well as additional sponsors.
