The grand jury on Wednesday handed down indictments for first-degree murder and other charges to a man accused in the shooting death of a 26-year-old Suffolk man last year.

Jeffrey O’Neil Jennings Jr., 22, will face the charges in connection with the death of Lloyd Randolph Green Sr. on June 29, 2013, after the shooting on Cogic Square.

According to the U.S. Marshals, Jennings fled the area after the shooting and went to Nashville, Tenn., where he was arrested on Feb. 18.

The Marshals Service also alleged there had been an argument between the two men that subsequently calmed but then turned tragic.

“(It) is alleged that Jennings tracked down this other individual and shot him in the back of the head,” said a news release from the U.S. Marshals at the time of his arrest. “Investigators believe that Jennings then stood over the body and fired more shots, at point-blank range.”
