Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

  • Will Crow, senior for King’s Fork High School golf: He earned a spot in the 4A South Region tournament while producing the second best individual score in the Ironclad Conference tournament this past week in Newport News. He shot a 75 on Monday and an 81 on Tuesday to finish with the best score of any Suffolk golfer competing – a two-day 156.
  • Lizzy Fowler, senior for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy volleyball: She continued to be one of the players on her team who has stepped up significantly in the absence of star senior middle blocker Caylin Harris, who has been ill. Fowler co-led her team with 10 kills in Tuesday’s 3-0 win at Norfolk Collegiate School. In Thursday’s 3-0 home win over Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School, she led her team with 13 kills.
  • Malcolm Nurse, senior for Nansemond River High School volleyball: He helped to revive his team this week in the midst of a difficult season with impressive performances on offense. In a 3-0 win against visiting Denbigh High School on Tuesday, he produced a season-best 12 kills. On Thursday, he topped this performance with a 15-kill night in a 3-2 win over host Heritage High School.
