The Lakeland High School field hockey team improved to 3-0 against Southeastern District opponents this season with its 6-0 victory over host Deep Creek High School on Monday.
Lady Cavaliers coach Cortney Parker had more positive feelings than negative ones regarding her team’s performance against the Lady Hornets.
“Obviously, there were a lot of missed opportunities, we could have had a lot more goals, but we’re heading in the right direction,” she said.
Leading the way offensively was freshman Sydney Beale with three goals and an assist. Senior Taylor Roten produced a goal and an assist, junior Kaylene Thomas scored once and so did senior Stasha Waterfield.
Providing one assist apiece were seniors Victoria Harmon and Shannon Leonard and freshman Allison Thompson.
Lakeland (3-1) visits Great Bridge High School today, looking to avenge its season-opening 2014 loss to the Lady Wildcats that snapped a Lady Cavs winning streak against SED opponents that extended back to 2002.
