Player of the Week nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

  • Brandeé Johnson, senior for Nansemond River High School track and field: She added two more individual regional championships to her collection of titles, helping the Lady Warriors win their second consecutive indoor regional title. She won the 55-meter dash, setting a meet and personal record, both with her prelims time (7.11 seconds) and her finals time (7.07 seconds). She also won the long jump.
  • Amesha Miller, junior for King’s Fork High School basketball: She had an outstanding week, helping propel the Lady Bulldogs past their chief conference rivals to the Conference 17 tournament championship. She had 22 points, 17 rebounds and five blocks in Friday’s 59-50 title win over Wilson High School and 20 points and 15 boards in Wednesday’s semifinal win over Lake Taylor High School.
