Player of the Week nominations

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

  •  Madison Froemel, sophomore for King’s Fork High School softball: She produced her second and third home runs of the season to help the Lady Bulldogs come back and win 10-9 against Tallwood High School during a tournament in Chesapeake on Thursday. With her team down 7-3 in the third, she led off with a solo homer. Down 8-6 in the fourth, she hit a two-run shot to tie the game.
  • Calah Savage, senior for Nansemond River High School softball: She was an important contributor to the Lady Warriors’ 3-0 run in the Grand Strand Softball Classic this past week in South Carolina. She hit a two-run home run in a 6-0 win on Monday, added another two-run homer in a 12-1 win on Tuesday and had a key RBI single during a 6-4 victory on Wednesday that went to nine innings.
