KF runners place second

The King’s Fork indoor track and field team participated in the 4A indoor state meet Friday and Saturday at Roanoke College.
The boys’ 4×200 relay team placed second in the state with a time of 1:32.34. The team consisted of Lawrence Smith, Bryan Walker, Joel Iglesias and Nasir Davis. Smith, Davis, and Iglesias were also part of a 4×400 team that placed sixth, along with Shamond Smith.
Shamond Smith also ran a time of 2:40.78, finishing sixth in the state, in the 1,000-meter run, setting a personal record. Lawrence Smith ran a personal-best time of 1.08.76 in the 500-meter run.
For the girls’ team, Latoya Thomas placed fifth in the shot put with a distance of 36’06” which was a new personal record for her. Asia Rawlings also placed fifth in the 55-meter dash.
