King’s Fork High School’s girls’ soccer team got a 5-0 road win over Great Bridge High School behind Cydney Nichols’ four goals on Thursday.

The Lady Bulldogs’ win evens their record for the season to 2-2.

Nichols said she wasn’t concerned with her personal stats; she just wanted to do what she could to help her team win.

“It felt great just getting back into the swing of things,” she said. “We had lost a couple previous games, so it was just good to get a win.”

“I think this is the best game we’ve played to this point of the season,” coach Mike Marston said. “The players got back to playing for each other. We made the game simple.”

“This game was just about winning,” Nichols said. “I was just motivated to go out there and score for my team and win.”

Even in their losses this year, King’s Fork has controlled the first half of their games. The second half has proved to be the team’s nemesis.

“We have to continue to do what we do well,” Marston said. “We started off at the same pace last year. We just have to continue to be consistent earlier on, instead of a month or two later.”

King’s Fork will play Lakeland High School at home at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
