Senior Madison Froemel has signed her National Letter of Intent to play softball for McDaniel College in Maryland.

Froemel will attend McDaniel College in Maryland. Her decision came down to her feeling comfortable and how close the softball team is there. She gives credit to her travel ball coach, Mark Rutherford, for being instrumental in her recruiting process. Her father and head coach, Richard Froemel, also played a role in helping his daughter through the process and being there for her.

“I felt like the school fit me perfectly,” she said. “It had a homey feel to it. All the students were very welcoming, and it felt comfortable. It is so beautiful.”

Froemel has seen the team play three times, and she also attended a camp there. She believes that the coaches are great and that the school is well rounded. The program will be graduating a bunch of seniors, which will give Froemel the chance to make an immediate impact. They believe if Froemel keeps hitting the way she has been, she has a good chance to start at third base as a freshman.

Every school that had interest in her was out of state, so her parents knew that wherever she decided to go, she was not going to be close to home. Barton College in North Carolina was the other college that Froemel also had interest in.

The senior was relieved to have finally chosen a school and to have signed; however, she knows there will be an adjustment period for college ball. She holds herself to a high standard, so she wants to be able to get adjusted as soon as possible.

“I just want to be able to make an impact,” she said. “Whether that be fielding and not hitting or hitting and not fielding, I just want to contribute.”

With possibly a little more than a month left in her senior season, she wants to continue being consistent. She made first team All-State last season and is hoping she can repeat that again this season, along with more team success.

She has plans to major in athletic training. McDaniel is an NCAA Division III school and is a part of the Eastern College Athletic Conference.
