A nine-run second inning put the NSA Lady Saints in the driver’s seat early en route to a convincing 14-1 win over Cape Henry in four innings. Although the bats were hot, NSA’s Marin McGowan worked two innings, giving up no runs, no hits, no walks, and fanning five hitters in the win.

NSA took a 1-0 lead into the bottom half of the second when Sophia Grant opened the inning with a triple. Zoey Carpenter stepped up next with a double to center, scoring Grant. After a Grace Patterson walk, Addy Smith singled up the middle, scoring Carpenter and Patterson, giving NSA a 4-0 lead.

With the lead extended to 6-0 and only one out and two runners on, Rylea Nelms and Grant hit back-to-back triples to put the Saints up 9-0. Up for the second time in the inning, Carpenter singled to center, scoring Grant again and extending the lead to 10-0.
