Cornhole tourney planned

Some world-class cornhole — yep, that’s right, cornhole — will be seen in Driver later this month during the Driver Days celebration.
The No. 1 team in the state will be on hand to play in the tournament hosted by Knot Hole Station, said Ken Parsons, owner of the business.
Featuring Allen “Rocky” Rockwell, the first-place player in the state, and James Baldwin, the No. 2 player in the world who lost to the five-time defending champion, the tournament so far includes more than 60 players from four states.
A few entries are still available, and Parsons said the teams will be blind-drawn “so that teams can’t come in and dominate.”
There is a $2,500 purse that will pay out to the top five finishers.
An additional draw will be some star power. Bobby Brantley of “Lizard Lick Towing” on TruTV fame will be there and playing, Parsons said.
Registration for the tournament will take place Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon, and the tournament will begin at 12:30 p.m. The tournament costs $20 per person.
The following day, there will be $5 blind draw tournaments all day.
“You will see astronomical play at this thing,” Parsons said. “We try to put on a show for this event.”
